ICSE 2009

Welcome

I am a PhD student under the supervision of Gail Murphy at the University of British Columbia (UBC) since September 2005. In June 2005 I completed my Diploma degree at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany. During my studies, I conducted my diploma thesis at the OBASCO (Objects, Aspects and Components) group at the Ecole des Mines de Nantes in France in 2004 and spent a year as a visiting student at the UBC in 2002/03.

My research focuses on software engineering, in particular on aiding developers to answer questions over integrated knowledge.

I am however not working the whole time :). I like to travel to and live in different cities and the pleasure of meeting new people and friends. I also love hiking in the summer as well as in the winter with friends or family, and sitting at the beach. You can find some more details about me on my personal page.

Recent Activities

Trip to Germany

In May, I went to Germany to attend ICSE 2008 in Leipzig. Finally, I also got to see Berlin for the first time in my life and was able to enjoy the beergardens in Munich again.

IBM Internship in Zurich

Last year, I was an intern at IBM in beautiful Zurich in Switzerland under supervision of Dirk Baeumer, Michael Schneider, and Erich Gamma. It has been a great experience, not only because it is an amazing city to live in, but especially because it is a lot of fun to work with so experienced developers and having the chance to learn a lot from them. Of course the chance to live in a city like Zurich (ranked even higher than Vancouver in terms of living quality :)) and in particluar being so close to my family and friends in Munich is something I enjoy a lot.

CAS student at IBM Ottawa

In January 2007, I went for a month and a half to IBM Ottawa (Center for Advanced Studies) to perform an experimental study. It was a really good experience, in particular because of all the people I met and the chance to observe great developers at work.
