"Cool, when are you going?"
"I don't know. Next summer maybe?"
"Cool."
"Cool."
and thus it began. With a simple declaration that I was going to bike around china, suddenly plans were underway. I ordered the outstanding Pimsleur Mandarin Chinese CDs, read a few websites about biking in China, mastered a 1000 word chinese vocabulary and I was on my way.
I bought a recumbent bicycle. 
It's very comfortable for touring and you get a spectular view. I intended to bike for 3 months around China, but as it turned out, I biked for 6 weeks and took trains for the other half.
I sent a few e-mails home. You can read them here if you like. Some of them are pretty funny. Roads and Chinese Food are my personal favourites, but maybe you'd like to read them in order.
