Mime and Punishment

The first major animation that I worked on was Mime and Punishment. I was one of two people involved in the entire creation of Mime and Punishment, from story to rendering. We began by developing the story, in which a mean spirited mime, named Marcel, spends three days harassing Ed, the timid businessman, until Marcel's miming finally gets the best of him.

The two of us developed the story, made character sketches and storyboards, pitched the idea, modeled, rigged, skinned and textured the characters, modeled and textured the set, and scripted user interfaces to better control the rigs. We then trained a team of novice animators to use our rigs and animation software, Alias Maya, and to animate the film. Once the film was animated, we took care of lighting and rendering the film. We also had a sound designer working on our team to create the music and sound effects.

The project's progress can be tracked at the class website.
