Virtual Midway Gardens

The Virtual Midway Gardens is a long term project which began as a course called EECS 395: RTFM: Illustrated Worlds at Northwestern University in the spring term of 2005.

The goal of this project was to reconstruct an interactive virtual representation of Frank Lloyd Wright's Midway Gardens, which existed in Chicago during the 1920s, but was destroyed within a decade of its creation.

Since there is little documentation remaining on the layout of the gardens, we were to use non-photorealistic techniques to represent uncertainty in the reconstruction process. The the goal of the course was the reconstruction, long term goals of the project involved creating a virtual environment in which a user could experience the garden in its natural environment.

The project's progress can be tracked at the class website.
