Personal Skiing I learned to cross-country ski in the woods behind my childhood home in Wisconsin. When I began playing ice hockey, I left skiing behind. However, the yearly ski trips to Colorado during my undergraduate career rekindled my enthusiasm for the sport. As a beginner to downhill skiing in 2003, I stuck to mostly green and some easy blue runs. However, I am proud to say that just trips later, and having never taken a lesson, I am a regular on black and double black diamonds. Now that I am in graduate school in Vancouver, BC, I am constantly heading up to Whistler/Blackcomb to make use of my season pass. I managed to get in 34 days during the 2006-07 season, tripling my lifetime total up until that season. Below is a list of the mountains on which I have skied, along with some trail maps and pictures of my trips. All of the trips were 3-5 days of skiing, except for Whistler/Blackcomb. Hiking & Camping Since I am currently living near the beautiful mountains of British Columbia, I have become infatuated with exploring them. When I am not working or skiing, I am often hiking or camping somewhere in the area. Below is a list of hiking, camping, and other outdoor trips that I have taken in recent years, along with some pictures taken by myself or friends that went with me.
Check out my travel page to see an interactive map of the skiing and hiking locations listed above, along with a long list of cities and sites that I have visited around the world. |
